To induct and support new secondary RE teachers in Catholic schools by equipping them with theological understanding, curriculum expectations, and practical classroom strategies aligned with the RED and Catholic education principles.
Day Course
Aim:To induct new RE teachers into the expectations and responsibilities of teaching Religious Education in Catholic schools in England.
Content:
- Clear and engaging explanation of expectations for RE and RE teachers in Catholic schools.
- Guidance on using the Religious Education Directory (RED) effectively.
- First-hand insight and advice from a recent Early Career Teacher (ECT) in RE.
- Practical strategies for addressing common challenges faced when teaching RE in Catholic schools.
Online Courses (6 Sessions)
Aim:To develop teachers’ understanding of the theology in Year 9 Branches 1–6 and provide practical support for effective teaching.
Content:
- Clear and engaging explanations of the theology in each Year 9 Branch (1–6).
- Opportunities to ask questions to deepen understanding of theological content.
- Practical teaching suggestions and classroom strategies for each branch.
- Sharing of supporting resources for long-term use and reference.
