Event description

Description

Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre is one of the best wildlife-watching spots in the North East. Right next to the beach, it offers fantastic views across the length of Druridge Bay and is internationally renowned for its birds.

Style : 1 hour indoors theory + 3 hours outdoors practical tuition.

Ideally, you'll have a DSLR camera but many people attend with bridge cameras too.

Develop your macro and close-up landscape skills in pond, meadow, shrub and woodland areas. Learn how to photograph fascinating natural subjects including butterflies, birds, insects, flowers, berries and fungi in one of the best wildlife-watching spots in the North East, right next to the stunning Druridge Bay.

This is a fun, non-competitive course (no know-it-alls!) and the antidote to boring camera manuals!

This is a great opportunity to quietly observe a host of birds, including grey herons, tree sparrows, turnstones, shelducks and a large variety of butterflies such as the common blue and the wall brown. There are often dragonflies and damselflies on the ponds, including the common hawker and the common darter; and chattering in the woods, you might even see some red squirrels. Hauxley Nature Reserve also nurtures some fabulous flowers including viper’s bugloss, bloody cranesbill and northern marsh orchid.

I can't guarantee that you'll see any particular species because it's real nature - but I can promise that there'll be lots of wild and natural photographic opportunities!
