Description
Following the publication of Libraries Deliver: Ambition for Public Libraries in England 2016-2021, the Libraries Taskforce are organising sector forums on Ambition and the accompanying Action plan.
Libraries Deliver: Ambition sets out a bold and dynamic direction of travel for the next 5 years, describing how library services in England can help transform people, communities and society as a whole. It details how libraries support and add value to a range of local and national policy priorities, and links to practical examples of existing good practice. It is supported by an Action plan, saying what will happen to make the vision a reality.
The events will start with a series of presentations about Ambition, followed by workshops on topics covered in the action plan. These will be an opportunity for you to learn more about the actions and enable you to give your views. The workshop topics will include:
-
mutuals and other alternative delivery models
-
alternative funding streams
-
communications (covering barriers to involvement and how to overcome and shared and reusable assets)
-
data
-
workforce development
The sector forums are open to everyone with an interest in libraries, but are particularly aimed at the library workforce and local council members and officials. They are free to attend.
