Event description
Join Unseen and Burges Salmon this Anti-slavery week to find out how your business can join the fight against modern slavery.

About this Event

The event will be bringing together Bristol based, regional and national businesses to talk about modern slavery, learn more about what we can do as individuals and businesses to help fight slavery, and how you can join Unseen to make a difference in our own communities. There will also be an opportunity to ask an expert panel any questions you may have about the issue.

Our guest speaker is Will Morgan from HSBC Group Public Affairs. Will leads HSBC’s engagement with European governments on tackling modern slavery in the global financial system and was previously in the British Diplomatic Service, having served in Beijing, North Africa and Hong Kong in a range of political and security roles.

Other speakers include:

Jaya Chakrabarti MBE. Jaya is CEO of the award-winning tiscreport.org, the world’s largest corporate transparency platform. She was named one of the top 100 Corporate Influencers in Modern Slavery in 2018, one of the top 100 Asian Stars in Tech, in 2019, and serves on both the DCMS Digital Economy Business Advisory Group and Home Office Transparency in Supply Chains Modern Slavery Strategy & Implementation Group.

Andrew Wallis OBE, CEO and founder of Unseen, a UK-wide charity working to end modern slavery. As well as running the Modern Slavery Helpline, Unseen runs services for survivors of trafficking, and works in partnership with other agencies to help prevent modern slavery. Andrew chaired the landmark Centre for Social Justice report ‘It Happens Here’, widely acknowledged as the catalyst for the UK Modern Slavery Act of 2015, which he also advised on the development of.
