Moor Trees and South West Lakes Trust are both celebrating their 25th anniversary this year! We want you to join us for a special day of seed collecting to help create a more nature rich Dartmoor.
Find out how this site at Venford is being transformed from conifer plantation into native woodland and why this is important for nature and the climate. You will be able to see where the new native woodland is now growing, and how it is providing connective habitat between the broad-leaved woodland on the west and north of the lake and the woodland below the dam, which runs through the valley.
Join us at the very start of a wonderful two-year cycle which ends with planting new native broadleaved woodlands on Dartmoor.
We will spend the day walking through ancient semi-natural woodland and along hedgerows collecting native broadleaved tree seeds, which in the coming weeks we will process and get them ready to grow into the trees of the future.
Our day starts at 11am and we'll take a walk through the woods collecting different tree seed we find along the way.

We will be meeting in the car park with the toilets.
There is grazing animals on the site, so dogs will need to be kept on a lead please.
The site has some steep and uneven paths, so please bring waterproofs and suitable footwear for the terrain.

If you have booked a ticket for this event but are not able to make it to the session, we ask you to please cancel your booking to allow other volunteers to sign up and to make the team aware.
We will provide refreshments as well as all of the equipment required to undertake the task in hand on the day.
Please bring with you the following: water, weather-appropriate clothing, snacks, lunch, and sturdy footwear.
