Seed-Dating is a monthly reading group and workshop for plant-lovers to explore seeds as both living matter and metaphor — symbols of resistance, resilience, and future possibility. Each session combines playful activities — from games and mapping to creative prompts — with deep conversation around food justice and plant-human relationships. At the heart of it is the “seed-date,” where strangers respond to anonymous questions in brown envelopes, sparking dialogue that grows into collective action. Participants then use mapping and co-design tools to turn broad questions into tangible actions linked to their own growing spaces. Sessions are grounded in a monthly reading on seed-saving politics and practices. Past themes have included cultural inheritance, genes as currency, the ethics of reviving ancient seeds, and building libraries for local weed seeds.
