About this event
Presented in response to the widescale humanitarian crises and injustices playing out across the globe, Seeds of Change is a three-part series of online workshops and discussions to fuel the intersection of music and activism. Hosted by Saffron and open to all who would like to participate, these sessions will offer a soft space to ask hard questions and galvanise each other towards meaningful change.
WORKSHOP 3: EMBED – Making Moves in Times of Crisis: From Inaction to Influence
Earlier this year, Saffron alum, inda Flo co-led a Palestine solidarity campaign that resulted in over half of Field Day's lineup boycotting the KKR-linked festival. As the genocide in Palestine continues, feelings of despair, overwhelm, and hopelessness may mean that as people who care about liberation, we don't know what to do or feel immobilised in doing anything at all. This workshop is an opportunity to name what's keeping you stuck and get clear on what will enable you to take courageous action.
You'll be guided, by inda Flo, through an inquiry-based framework that supports you to identify your unique role and contribution when it comes to activating your art, activism, and leadership. You’ll answer questions that open up the possibilities of what you are called to do given your strengths, your context, and sphere of influence. Music, art and culture have historically been powerful vehicles of change when dismantling oppression and injustice - this workshop seeks to keep that legacy alive by influencing each and every one of us to take the next elegant step in a moment when it feels the most inadequate or impossible - because our world requires us to.
Participants are requested to signal their attendance by registering via Eventbrite or the Saffron Members portal. Those who wish to contribute financially to their participation have the option to make a donation upon sign-up, with all proceeds going to M.A.P.
About inda Flo
In the world of music, inda Flo is a disc jockey, radio host, and event promoter who bends and blends cultural rhythms and melodies in her stomping ground of Global Bass, Techno, Percussive Club, Electronic, and World. She is the founder of Hold The Door, a club night showcasing the most underground of global sounds that you've probably never heard on the dancefloor before. inda Flo is also a resident of Voices Radio, Sisu, Selextorhood, and Dance Against Deportations.
In the world of activism, inda Flo (aka Vanessa Faloye) works as a facilitator, mediator, and consultant in anti-oppression, conflict transformation, and social justice movement building. Her role takes the shape of building the inner resources and relational skills needed to dismantle tools of oppression, cultures of supremacy, and cycles of dehumanisation that show up within us, between us, and around us. She is a co-founder of her consultancy collective called Held within which her particular passion is supporting change-making people to relate across difference and divide and lead towards coexistence and collective liberation.
