Seeds of Nonviolent Communication : NVC Weekend Workshop

Are you looking for a way to communicate that is both authentic and caring? Would you like to be able to navigate arguments and conflict in a more effective way? Do you want to have better relationships with yourself and others?

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) offers us a new way of seeing the world that helps us better understand ourselves and other people so we can create deeper and more real connection in our relationships.

Join us for a weekend exploring NVC in a beautiful spot in the woods near Hebden Bridge - a nurturing space to learn and practice alongside others who are on a similar journey.

Being together as a small group for the weekend gives plenty of opportunity to work with your specific scenarios and struggles, get support and feedback in person, ask questions, and respond to what comes up. There will also be space for quiet downtime, connection with others and time in nature - a mini retreat!

Why NVC?

There are many reasons why people find themselves exploring NVC. For us it was about wanting to find a way to be kinder and more compassionate people, to be able to cultivate the kinds of authentic relationships we really wanted in our lives, and to understand more deeply what conflict is and how to effectively engage with it.

We’ve found it to be a much deeper and longer path than expected - using the skills gives more choice in how to communicate straight away, and over time we have found it has become like a superpower, completely changing our experience of being in the world!

We feel so grateful to have found more self-connection, intimacy and depth in our relationships, and feel excited to share it.

While we will hold an empathic space, with care for all in the group, we are not offering a deep therapy workshop. When using real and current examples from our lives, it is possible that vulnerable feelings will come up, and all of this is welcome. We will remind you to take care around what you choose to work with and share, so that you can stay connected to what you are learning.

It is also worth having in mind that this is also not a quick fix - while the framework is simple, nonviolent communication is a deep shift in perspective, and takes practice to learn and integrate into everyday life.

Commitment:

We invite you to check in and consider ‘Is this what I want to commit to?’ before signing up. Part of our intention in doing this work is supporting the paradigm shift that is happening all around us. We see (and are part of) a culture of consumerism, where much is on offer, where ‘yes’ often means ‘maybe’. We honour this freedom to choose what feels right, and also value making a commitment to each other.

For whoever feels a 'yes', it is important to us that you can come regardless of financial resources, so would like you to pay based on what you can afford for the weekend. We are offering a sliding scale between £0 - £250. If you are not sure what to give, we are suggest £150 which will support us to keep doing this work. We trust you will consider both our needs and yours when choosing an amount.

We so much value this work and see how supportive it can be. If after the workshop you feel like you have made the wrong choice about attending, just get in touch and we will offer a full refund, no questions asked.

Logistics:

The site we will use is up on the hillside between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden. Each day will run from 10am until 5pm, with an optional Saturday evening gathering around a fire sharing food. We will be mostly outdoors, with a polytunnel and tarp for cover if the weather is wet.

The site is very beautiful and enables us to offer the course without extra cost, however getting there involves walking on uneven tracks, so unfortunately may not be accessible to everyone*. We will send out details on how to get there when you register, and can connect people for lift share.

It is possible to camp on the site if you would like to, or if needed we may be able to help you to find accommodation nearby. If this is something you are interested in, you can let us know once you have signed up through info@reconnect.works.

*We would love to hear from you if you are interested in the content and this venue isn't suitable for your needs, so that we can guage interest in repeating this at a different more accessible venue in 2022.

What happens next:

Once you purchase a ticket, your place is secured. Before the event, you’ll get an email with full details of where the site is, timings, what you need to bring, any preparation, detailed instructions for how to get to site, a timetable for the day and what to expect.
