Seeing things : second in the 2011 series @Chapter
Expert illustrated talks followed by audience discussion.
Peter D Cox is a former art critic of the Birmingham Evening Mail and arts writer for a number of magazines. He was also responsible for curating a number of major contemporary art exhibitions at the Midlands Arts Centre - including an exhibition of contemporary sculpture/public art in Birmingham city centre. He was a board member of the Ikon Gallery, Birmingham.
As chair of Cardiff Civic Society he has taken a particularly aware view of public art in the city and in this illustrated talk he surveys the scene, makes personal observations and broaches the difficult subjects of taste, commissioning and conservation.
Each of these events is designed to get the audience thinking about the nature of our built and natural environment asking what interventions have taken place and what we would like to see around us. The next event in this series will look at landscapes for living.
