Travel Information
The Big Data Institute is on the University's Old Road Campus in Headington, Oxford, as shown on this Google map:
Train
The BDI is three miles from the mainline station at Oxford, which has frequent trains to London (Paddington). Allow 15 minutes by taxi from the station forecourt. There are frequent buses to the campus (routes 4/4A/4B/4C to Wood Farm) from stop R7, which is located outside the station in Frideswide Square.
Bus
Following a recent route change, buses 4/4A/4B/4C now stop on Roosevelt Road immediately outside the entrance to the Old Road Campus. Numerous other bus routes serve London Road, Headington, a 15 minute walk away.
Coach from London
The Oxford Express and the Oxford Tube operate 24 hours a day to and from Central London, stopping on London Road, Headington at the stop known variously as Headington School, Brookes University or Gypsy Lane.
Car
Local parking is very restricted so, if driving, we suggest using Park and Ride. Parking spaces/visitors’ parking permits should be available for Blue Badge holders and others with mobility needs – please contact Robin if you need this.
Park and Ride
Park and Ride bus services to the Old Road Campus run from the Thornhill Park & Ride (route 900), which is one mile east of Headington on the A40, and the Water Eaton Park & Ride (route 700), which is immediately next to the Oxford Parkway rail station north of Oxford. Both buses stop next to Old Road Campus, on Churchill Drive near the junction with Roosevelt Drive. The more frequent route 400 from Thornhill (and also Seacourt Park & Ride, west of Oxford) serves London Road, Headington, a 15 minute walk away.
