Description

Course overview

The objective of this course is to introduce entry level or junior Geophysicists/Geologists, and staff from other disciplines, to the key acquisition and technical processing concepts and principles that form the basis for value added seismic applications in exploration, field appraisal, and reservoir management. Learning objectives are at basic foundation to knowledge levels. It is especially applicable to seismic interpreters to help them understand where the data they interpret comes from and to effectively communicate with acquisition and processing specialists and seismic contractors.

There is an emphasis on principles and practical understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, imaging, and extraction of geological and petrophysical information. Data examples, exercises, and workshops are used to illustrate key concepts, practical issues, and pitfalls of acquisition, processing and data interpretation as they affect the final seismic products that support exploration plays and reservoir characterization and the integration of seismic data, information and interpretations into E&P workflows.

The course is designed for

Entry or Junior Level Geologists/Geophysicists and more experienced staff from other disciplines who interpret or use seismic data/results and need exposure to basic acquisition and processing techniques and technology.
