About this Event

This training is CPD accredited and runs over 2 days. Both days must be attended to gain the CPD Points.

Session 2 - Tuesday 8th December, 2020 - 9.30am - 12.30pm

Why should I engage in this course?

Sometimes saying ‘no’ can be challenging. Sometimes hearing ‘no’ can be distressing. Being assertive and representing yourself is a skill that you can develop; self-advocacy is concerned with learning to speak up for yourself in order to have your needs met. This course is highly interactive and provides learners with the necessary skills and confidence to represent themselves more successfully and to manage communication with others appropriately.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • understand and define ‘self-advocacy.’
  • understand why self-advocacy is important.
  • recognise your own strengths and use them.
  • use a range of skills appropriate in self-advocacy.
  • better manage a range of outcomes.

Introductory offer of £25.00 per person

CLOVERLEAF CONNECT

Who are we

Cloverleaf Connect is the training branch of a Charity, dedicated to supporting vulnerable people to find a voice. Unlike many training providers, our revenue is invested directly back into supporting local communities, advocacy and vital work to support carers.

When you choose to purchase from us, you invest in your own company or your personal and professional development, whilst also making a charitable donation in order that our good work in supporting others can continue.

We aim to deliver exceptional training; all of our trainers are experienced, knowledgeable practitioners in a variety of professional fields and have a flair for engaging learners in participatory learning.

Cloverleaf Advocacy provides high quality advocacy services to people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, older people, people with physical and sensory impairment, and carers. We provide advocacy support to people in local communities, supported living, hospitals, secure mental health units and residential homes.

Advocacy is all about helping people to control their own lives. We support people to:

• make their own decisions

• have their voices heard and rights respected

• achieve their own goals

• express their views

• represent themselves and get the help they need.

We also support self-advocacy groups to be involved in shaping health & social care.

We believe in involving people who access health and social care services, and professionals learning from people who use services.

We provide a range of training in advocacy skills and knowledge. We are a registered City and Guilds Centre for delivering a range of health and social care qualifications including the Independent Advocacy qualifications.

We are experienced partners in consultation and research with people who access health and social care services.
