Share Self Care for Caring Practitioners

Event Details

What is this workshop about?

Counsellors, therapists and practitioners devote their professional lives to supporting others - and helping others support themselves. However, too often we neglect our own psychological well-being. Research suggests that while therapists appreciate the importance of self care, many know that they do not do enough for themselves.

This interactive workshop will help therapists review the basics and take a refresher on how effective we are at self care and provide some tools to help imporve the way we look after ourselves.

What are the Key Issues that will be covered?

  • The Caring Practitioner
  • 'Burnout': What is it? What causes it? Am I at risk? What's the latest thinking?
  • 'Resilience': What is it? How can I develop it? What's the latest thinking?
  • What are the latest reserch findings and ideas about self care?
  • What practical self care strategies can I take?
  • What tools and resources are available to help me?

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for therapists working with clients in psychological contexts. It is particularly relevant for counsellors, CBT therapists, and other professionals working with clients on mental health issues, such as nurses, GP's and allied health professionals. Students are particularly welcome from these and related areas.
