Event description
Join us for this workshop where we will explore self care in relation to food, our bodies and movement. Take some time for you this Winter.

About this Event

Do you ever leave yourself at the bottom of your 'to-do-list' and end up feeling exhausted mentally and physically or like you need a huge break? Do you ever feel disconnected from yourself?

Within our hectic lifestyles there are many things that can disrupt our ability to hear and respond to the needs of our bodies and minds, like feeling hunger for example. These disrupters can inlcude distractions, thoughts, beliefs, rules or a lack of self care.

‘Self care’ isn’t just a buzzword; although yes it is thrown around in magazines and on social media so often that sometimes it’s hard to know what it really means. It can often be portrayed as fancy bubble baths and massages - and whilst these can certainly be considered self care activities - self care encompasses so much more. It is our daily routines, relationships and our environments that that shape our sense of well being. Self care can include things like getting enough sleep, eating and attending to emotional, physical, relationship and spiritual needs.

Self care is often viewed as a selfish or luxury pursuit... but it's not, it is an important part of our lives that make us feel well in ourselves.

So what do you do to take care of yourself? How do you get your basic needs met and manage stress?

Join this workshop to understand why self care is so important and how to be more curious about caring for all parts of us when it comes to nutrition, our bodies and movement. We will dive deep into the concepts around self care, explore our current practices and build skills to care for ourselves in different ways that don't involve diets, restriction or guilt.

This workshop will cover:

> How nutrition, body respect and movement relate to self care.

> Dive deep into learning how to understand your body's signals and cues better, both physically and emotionally. Explore interoception - powerful information to tap into about your physiological and psychological state - which can help determine what you need to do to meet your needs.

> How to let go of the 'all or nothing' mindset and develop self-compassion and curiosity in a chaotic world.

> Learn how to trust yourself and your body, rather than needing external control to feel well in ourselves.

> Direction on where to get more support within Cornwall.

What to expect:

> 4 hour workshop in a beautiful Truro location at the Old Bakery Studios.

> Activities to get stuck into, practical tools, tips and resources to help you navigate self care and nutrition.

> Ability to ask questions about your own journey and get tailored advice from Melissa Garside, Registered Nutritionist (ANutr).
