Clone yourself in an hour. OK, not really. But you can do some simple self-cloning using E.coli bacteria in the MadLab’s DIY laboratory/kitchen. Self-cloning is a super simple form of genetic modification which involves recreating the behaviour of naturally occurring bacteria using contemporary microbiology techniques. Come along and get hands-on with the simplest genetically modified experiment of all - modifying laboratory-grade e.coli to produce the enzyme lactase and turn their living environment blue.
N.B. Results will be emailed to you after your E.coli has been incubated (48-72 hours after the workshop). For safety reasons, you will not be able to take your E.coli home.
Suitability: Adults and teenagers 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult)
