Join us for an inspiring evening as Dr Kristin Neff shows how we can be happier - and better placed to help others - by learning to be kind and compassionate to ourselves.
Self-compassion involves treating ourselves like we would a good friend. Rather than continually judging and evaluating ourselves, we can show kindness toward ourselves as imperfect humans, and learn to cope better with the inevitable struggles of life.
Dr Neff will show how we can make changes needed in our lives, not because we’re worthless, inadequate or selfish, but because we care about ourselves.
"Helps us all see the way to cure the world - one person at a time - starting with yourself" ~ Rosie O'Donnell
"Brilliant! Self Compassion is a revolutionary idea, with profound implications for how to live our lives" ~ Christopher K. Germer Ph.D
About The Speaker
During her last year of graduate school in 1997 Kristin Neff became interested in Buddhism, and has been practicing meditation ever since. While doing her post-doctoral work she decided to conduct research on self-compassion - a central construct in Buddhist psychology and one that had not yet been examined empirically.
Dr Kristin Neff is now recognised as one of the world’s leading experts on self-compassion, being the first to operationally define and measure the concept over a decade ago. She is author of Self-Compassion and has also developed an eight-week program to teach self-compassion skills in daily life, called Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC).
"With self-compassion, we give ourselves the same kindness and care we'd give to a good friend" ~ Dr Kristin Neff
