Do you have clients that quibble over the cost of your services? That constantly pay late? That change the brief half-way through the project? When the person you’re dealing with changes and they start to question what you’re doing? Perhaps you realise in the initial meeting you’ve underquoted for a piece of work, or you find part-way through a project that you’re doing way more than was initially agreed.

As consultants we aim to delight our clients, and we want to be rewarded for doing so. To build effective partnerships where we’re recognised for what we bring, maintain our integrity and get paid on time, we need to adopt a negotiation mindset.

This practical workshop will show you how to increase your power in a negotiation, which skills to hone to give you the best chance of success, tried and tested tactics and when to use them - and how to respond when they’re used on you! Come along, share your stories and learn the skills, tips and techniques to negotiate successfully through tricky situations and, even better, avoid them happening in the first place.

About the Speaker: Angela Massey

Before switching to the more civilised profession of L&D, Angela worked in the competitive world of retail buying which is where she first learned the negotiation skills essential when dealing with national sales reps from big household names. She used these skills in subsequent roles when buying services in marketing, L&D and HR. She has trained buyers, marketeers and general managers in negotiation skills and has run her own successful consultancy for 15 years, serving clients in the public, private and voluntary sectors.

Members of the SEN Steering Group will be around after the meeting if you have any suggestions for topics for future meetings.
