Self-Employed Network Event – Setting up in Business - What are the Legal and Accountancy Considerations? - An interactive online workshop for CIPD Members / anybody who is considering setting themselves up in business.

Via Zoom - Friday 6 November - 09:45 - 12:00 (noon)

Are you thinking of going self-employed or setting up as a business? Are you already working this way and wondering if you have things set up to your best advantage? Do you know how to register yourself or your business? Are you confused about how to ensure you can evidence your legitimate self-employed status, or worried that you might get caught up in the IR35 tightening up of HMRC requirements? Not sure what to do about VAT?

This event focusses on the particular legal and accounting challenges and considerations of setting up in business, whether as a sole-trader, self-employed, or a registered company. Our three speakers have a wealth of experience of working with and supporting professionals running their own small businesses.

Malcolm Gregory and Rishi Ladwa from Royds Withy King will focus on the legal side and will look at terms of business, IR35 and GDPR. Julian Pocock of David Owen Accountants will look at the financial aspects such as VAT, limited company vs sole trader and HMRC responsibilities.

Malcolm Gregory is a Royds Withy King Partner and heads up the Employment team. He is frequently recognised for his talent in providing clients with practical commercial advice in his specialist area of employment law. Malcolm's clients value his ability to “dispel complexity and reduce challenging scenarios to simple and ordered next steps” and he is praised for his business acumen and pragmatism.

Rishi Radwa is a Senior Associate in Royds Withy King Corporate & Commercial team. He advises clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters which arise during the lifecycle of a business. He is recognised by the independent legal directory Chambers & Partners as an "Associate to watch".
