Running a small creative busines can be a very fluid operation!
Many artists and creatives mix temporary, full-time or part-time jobs, short term paid freelance work, periods of no or little income and large one-off payments as a matter of course in their careers. This can create a headache when it comes to completing an annual tax return.
This workshop is aimed at self-employed creative businesses to give them a basic understanding of the tax regime for the self-employed. As a general overview it will cover:
- Registering your business with HMRC
- Understanding what is meant by employment status
- Different classes of National Insurance contributions
- Basic record keeping
- The tax return cycle, payments to HMRC and penalties
- Where to go for further help and advice
The workshop is FREE and will be run by Karen Lewis of the HMRC Business Education and Support Team. There will also be an opportunity to raise any queries on business taxation with Karen.
The workshop will take place in The New Boardroom at Pavilion Arts Centre, Buxton. There is a pay-and-display car park in the Pavilion Gardens complex which is next to the Pavilion Arts Centre. Click here for further information.
