This training is fully funded and available only to people who live or work in Cumbria.
This three hour online training session is suitable for school staff, health and social care practitioners, and anyone in the community who wants to know more about self-harm, and how they can support someone who is self-harming. The training covers;
- Understanding what self-harm is and its prevalence
- Reasons people may self-harm and the cycle of self-harm behaviour
- Exploring coping and distraction strategies
- Look at the concept of a Safe plan
- The relationship between suicide and self-harm behaviour
- Considering the roles of parents, carers and professional support
There is a focus on young people but the learning is transferable across all ages. Learning is through a mixture of presentation, discussion and small group work, and is delivered via zoom by our dedicated and experienced trainers. Participants will receive further support resources and a certificate of completion.
