About this event

Health • Mental health

Self-help books are some of the most popular and most borrowed books of all genres. People love to read about how they can improve their health, their attitudes and their lives in general. So many people read self-improvement books, but how many actually attempt to put some of what they've read into practice?

This reading group aims to do just that - help you help yourself by discussing ways in which theory can be put into practice.

See here for the books available online from the library.

In October we will be discussing The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel Van der Kolk.

A forefront expert on traumatic stress outlines his own take on healing, explaining how traumatic stress affects brain processes and how to use innovative treatments to reactivate the mind''s abilities to trust, engage others and experience pleasure.
