About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

Arrested at a protest? Arrested protecting our community? Want to defend yourself in court?

Come along to an evening of learning about how to Self Represent in the Sheriff Court.

Self Repping 101

With legally experienced people as well as experienced defenders who have represented themselves in court and won, we are providing an evening of discussion and learning including;

i) A brief overview of how the Sheriff Court process works

ii) How the Self Representing system in the Sheriff Court fits in to this process

iii) Common Self Representing pitfalls - and how to avoid them

Our guidance is aimed for those who act in the public good at protests and at marches and similar gatherings, and are then targetted and arrested by Police Scotland, typically with relatively minor charges. This intimidation tactic by the police is being experienced more and more specifically by human- and animal- rights protesters today.

THIS WILL NOT BE SPECIFIC LEGAL ADVICE FOR YOUR CASE!
