ALL WORKSHOPS WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE VIA ZOOM (you will be supported by Onlinevents team if you need help with the tech)

These workshops are for counsellors and counsellors in training who want to reflect on their self care habits, make time to prioritise selfcare and take part in some fun selfcare activities.

In these workshops I aim to offer therapists and trainees the opportunity to create some protected time to think about selfcare. You’ll take part in some fun and therapeutic selfcare activities with a group of colleagues and have little tasks between the sessions to keep you focused.. Throughout the workshops we’ll be gathering materials to create vision boards to keep as a reminder of our selfcare aspirations.

Workshop 1 - What Selfcare Is

We’ll think about different types of selfcare, create individual definitions of selfcare and think about our Top 5 selfcare goals. We’ll end the workshop with a guided visualisation.

Workshop 2 - What Selfcare Isn’t

We’ll think about our barriers to selfcare and what we can do to overcome these. The second part of the workshop will be a “book club” where we talk about a selfcare-related book and do an exercise from the book itself.

Workshop 3 - How Will I Fit It In?

We’ll explore ways to help you fit regular selfcare into your daily life by thinking about organisation, time management and other ‘boring but necessary’ routines. This will be followed by a journalling exercise.

Workshop 4 - This is What It Looks Like!

We’ll use the materials we’ve been gathering throughout the workshop series to create vision boards of our self care journey and aspirations. To end our time together we’ll share our boards and reflect on our experiences.

1- Create your unique definition of selfcare

2- Identify your barriers to selfcare and think about ways you can overcome these

3- Think about how to organise your way to regular selfcare

4- Enjoy some fun selfcare practices in a group to encourage self reflection and creativity

5- Create a vision board/collage of your journey to better selfcare and how you’ll continue to incorporate this into your daily life

Do I need to bring anything to the workshops?

Yes. You’ll need materials that you can use to create your vision board in our final workshop. You’ll also need a big sheet of paper and some glue/sticky dots/sellotape for the final session. You'll need the book club book for session 2, and you might also want to bring a notepad and pen to each workshop for scribbling down ideas and notes.

Will I have to do anything between workshops?

Yes, In each session I will ask you to gather materials for your vision board, ready for the final session. There will also be a bit of reading for the book club session.

Antonia said.....Selfcare is so important for therapists. As counselling practitioners and counselling trainees, we all know what selfcare is and - I would guess - often encourage our clients to prioritise this to improve their wellbeing. And I also know how difficult it can be to make selfcare a regular practice when you’re a busy therapist with a focus on helping others. I’m sure I’m not just speaking for myself here! Remembering to look after ourselves, prioritise downtime and create some space for ourselves is important for our wellbeing and contributes to our continued safe and ethical working, so it’s essential for both our personal and professional selves.

Antonia said.....These workshops are an opportunity to schedule protected time to look after yourself, try some new selfcare activities and tap into your creativity. They’re an informative, practical and fun way to focus on your needs and share experinces with a group of colleagues.

About Antonia Higgins

I work with adults and young people (13+) of all genders to improve their mental health and emotional wellbeing. I went into private practice part-time in early 2016, shortly after graduating, and now enjoy being my own boss on a full-time basis. This has happened sooner than I thought! I enjoy the variety that private practice brings, including the learning curve of marketing and promoting my practice online and in person.

About onlinevents

Sandra and John are a sibling team who are proud to be serving the helping professions for more than 10 years with online interactive learning. The workshop programme is being offered alongside the onlinevents CPD library which we believe is the world’s largest online library of video and audio learning, with instant certification for the helping professions including counsellors, coaches, teachers, supervisors and nurses.

The library is home to more than 800 hours of conferences, workshops and interviews contributed by hundreds of colleagues from all over the world and has issued more than 10,000 Continuing Professional Development certificates.

When you watch an onlinevents video or join one of our workshops you are part of a community of more than 40,000 colleagues from all over the world who have engaged with our learning resources.

Why Online Workshops?

We are acutely aware that for many colleagues in the helping professions travel is extremely difficult due to time, money and health constraints. We are developing this programme so that the workshops offered by experienced trainers from all over the world can also be accessed by you from the comfort of your own home

This workshop will be hosted in the Zoom meeting platform which has all the resources we need to create an experiential group learning environment. The workshops will have access to an online group room, breakout rooms for small groups, whiteboards for creating and sharing resources and the capacity to communicate with voice and text.

How Do I Attend the Workshop?

30 minutes before your workshop is due to start you will receive an email which will include a clickable link to join the workshop. This will open the Zoom meeting on your computer or mobile device, please be ready to join the workshop 15 minutes before it is due to start so we can make sure everyone's tech is working ok and we can start on time.

When you register for the workshop you will receive an email with an invitation to meet a colleague from the onlinevents team in Zoom who will help you orientate to the Zoom environment. Because the workshop will require the use of the camera and microphone on your computer or mobile device we want to help you feel confident using your technology.

Please note that we are requiring that all workshop participants meet with a colleague from the onlinevents team before participating in the onlinevents workshop programme so that the workshop can begin and run smoothly. Any colleagues who do not respond to the invitation for the pre-workshop meeting will not be able to join the workshop. This pre-workshop meeting will prepare you to attend this workshop and any other onlinevents workshop that you choose to register for. You wont need to attend one meeting per workshop.
