Event description

Description

Governments, funding bodies and international organisations around the world increasingly want science, technology and innovation to address societal challenges such as access to food and energy, rising inequality, inclusion and climate change. However it is far from clear how to design, implement or govern challenge-led policies. The challenges require re-thinking our conventional approaches to Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policies. The work of the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium aims to give substance to a new STI policy framing, underpinned by recent work on the Three Frames of Innovation with Frame 3 being ‘Transformative Change’ (Schot, Steinmueller 2018).

Join Professor Ed Steinmueller and SPRU researchers working within TIPC on a journey through Transformative Innovation Policy. During this special seminar we will start by understanding the world we are in, the first 75 years of innovation policy, the importance of directionality in STI policymaking and the foundations of Transformative Innovation Policy.

Questions and challenges very welcome!

Refreshments served from 3.15pm, seminar starts at 3.45pm.

The seminar will be recorded. For any further information, please email g.bloomfield@sussex.ac.uk
