Description

A seminar day with a range of talks, tours and demonstrations at Bankfield Museum on The Abyssinian Campaign, 1868. The seminar coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Abyssinian Campaign and the Duke of Wellington's Regiment's first VC award. In April 1868, Drummer Magner and Private Bergin became the first Dukes to be awarded the Victoria Cross. The Duke of Wellington's Regiment fought at Magdala, the final battle of the most successful of Queen Victoria’s ‘Little Wars’.
