Description

This 8 week course for international undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to improve their academic speaking skills. The course focuses on language and strategies you may need for contributing effectively to seminar discussions.

What will you study?

In this course you will learn:

  • language and strategies for turn-taking, agreeing/disagreeing, asking questions

  • paraphrasing spoken information

  • language and skills to show critical thinking

  • how to avoid common mistakes in speaking.

Topics that will be covered include: social media, authority, Wikipedia and academic research, plastic surgery, the death penalty, genetically modified (GM) food.

Classes are once a week and start at 18:30 and end at 20:00. Please arrive on time.
