New technology is encouraging employers to look beyond conventional working patterns; whilst, at the same time, concern is growing over whether the traditional legal framework can keep up with the pace of change. The Taylor Review is considering modern working practices, and this is taking place against the backdrop of greater employer scrutiny, including reform of taxation arrangements for public sector intermediaries (IR35).

And whilst new technology has allowed workplace innovation, it has also engendered the need for robust workplace practices and policies around social media management.

This session will look at the key legal issues surrounding atypical working arrangements. The second part of the session will focus on key practical steps to assist with misuse of social media and reducing litigation risk.

Key Topics

  • Employee / worker categories and why they matter.

  • Case law update - including Uber, CitySprint, Pimlico Plumbers.

  • Increased self-regulation – working time, minimum wage and Modern Slavery.

  • New intermediaries rules – IR35.

  • Managing social media in the workplace.

Who Should Attend?

  • Directors of Human Resources

  • Human Resources Advisers, Managers and Business Partners

  • Equality and diversity officers

  • Heads of Legal

  • In-house lawyers

Attending this training is completely FREE of charge. The session will be followed by a networking lunch giving you the opportunity to meet fellow attendees and direct your questions to the speakers.

Please be aware that places for this seminar are limited and the sessions are expected to get over subscribed. Our clients get priority over non clients but we will endeavour to increase capacity where we can to allow all those who wish to attend a place. Where we are heavily over subscribed we will limit places to one or two people per organisation in which case you may be asked to liaise with your team. Should we have to do any of the above we will be in touch with you at least 2 weeks before the event date.
