Why should I go?
Working with others is important and necessary in a range of situations from sport, work and volunteering to academic study and research. At University, you might participate in seminars as part of a small group or be asked to do an assessed piece of work with other students; this could be with people you have never met before and even with people from different departments. Learning how to manage difficult situations and understanding what your role is within a group will help you to make the most of the experience and make a positive contribution to group success.
What will I learn?
This workshop explores how to make the most of group work and seminar participation at university. You will learn how to contribute as an individual member, how to organise group interactions and how to deal with difficult situations, should they arise. By the end of the session you will have reflected on the role you tend to take in a group and will have developed a personal framework to apply to group activities.
