Event description

Description

This training day is about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Support including Education, Health and Care Plans. Places are free for SPCN members who are parents/carers. Places are also available for professionals at a cost of £25.00 per person.

The day will cover:

  • SEN Support & moving to EHC plans:
  • An overview of SEN Support and how it can feed into evidence for EHC Plans
  • EHCPs
  • Outline of the different sections of the EHC plan
  • How the sections work together to create the golden thread that weaves through the plan
  • Outline how Health and Social Care feature
  • A brief overview of the National Trial
  • When things go wrong
  • Effective strategies when things go wrong
  • Routes of redress

About the Trainer

Bren Prendergast, BSc, BA(Hons), MEd, PGCE, AMBDA. PATOSS APC: 500002242-OF7079

Bren is a Specialist Teacher who also has a special interest in autism, Developmental Language Disorder and dyspraxia. Bren is currently a member of the Norfolk All-Age Autism Partnership Group and also sits on the Expert Advisory Group for Driver Youth Trust. She also has many years’ experience of the SEND Tribunal.

Bren has published the paper ‘Reporting on the EHCP Process: Parent Participatory Research’, and is a columnist for Special Needs Jungle.

She is a member of PATOSS, nasen and the Whole School SEND Consortium.

Bren is currently undertaking further post-graduate study in language and communication disorders in children at the University of Sheffield.
