SEND Reform Training Event (Schools)
Overview
This session will be led by John Friel (Barrister, 3PB Chambers), Alice de Coverley (Barrister, 3PB Chambers) and Thomas Emmett (Partner, Geldards LLP). It will provide a focused discussion forum and round-table exploring the potential upcoming changes to the SEND legal regime.
Although publication of the government’s White Paper has been delayed until the New Year, this session offers an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow professionals and consider how future SEND reform may affect schools and school staff.
We will examine the context and relevance of previous SEND reform, including the 2014 Green Paper, and explore the media’s current outlook on what the next phase of reform may involve. The session will also consider what may be expected from the forthcoming White Paper, drawing on insights from the Education Committee’s Solving the SEND Crisis report (September 2025) and The Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP’s letter to Helen Hayes MP (October 2025).
There will be dedicated time at the end of the session for any questions you may have.
