Senedd election campaigning – Resisting the far right

Wales goes to the polls to elect our new Senedd representatives on 7th May 2026, and in the run up to the election Friends of the Earth Cymru will be running a series of training to help Welsh groups prepare to campaign for climate justice at the heart of our next Senedd.

The February session will focus on resisting the far right. Over the past few years’ we have seen a worrying increase in the far right in Wales - protests outside asylum seeker accommodation, the spread of disinformation and misinformation, and a push back on progress to tackle climate change on a local government level.

The run up to the Senedd elections are a time for us to tackle these troubling narratives in our community.

In this session we will cover;

• The context within Wales and why it is important for us as climate justice activists campaigning on the Senedd elections
• Case studies on the fight back
• What we can do in our communities to tackle push back on climate action

There will also be lots of time for Q&A!

The session will delivered in English but there will be a member of staff who speaks Welsh at the session so attendees will be very welcome to ask questions, use the chat box and discuss things in Welsh!

Mae Cymru'n mynd i'r polau i ethol ein cynrychiolwyr Senedd newydd ar 7fed Mai 2026, ac yn y cyfnod cyn yr etholiad bydd Cyfeillion y Ddaear Cymru yn cynnal cyfres o hyfforddiant i helpu grwpiau Cymru i baratoi i ymgyrchu dros gyfiawnder hinsawdd wrth canol ein Senedd nesaf.

Bydd sesiwn mis Chwefror yn canolbwyntio ar wrthsefyll yr asgell dde eithafol. Dros yr ychydig flynyddoedd diwethaf, rydym wedi gweld cynnydd pryderus yn yr asgell dde eithafol yng Nghymru - protestiadau y tu allan i lety ceiswyr lloches, lledaeniad gwybodaeth anghywir a chamwybodaeth, ac ymdrechion i “wthio yn nol” ar chynnydd ar newid hinsawdd ar lefel llywodraeth leol.

Mae'r cyfnod cyn etholiadau yr Senedd yn amser i ni fynd i'r afael â'r naratifau pryderus hyn yn ein cymuned.

Yn y sesiwn hon, byddwn yn trafod;

• Y cyd-destun yng Nghymru a pham ei fod yn bwysig i ni fel ymgyrchwyr cyfiawnder hinsawdd sy'n ymgyrchu ar etholiadau'r Senedd
• Astudiaethau achos
• Beth allwn ni ei wneud yn ein cymunedau i fynd i'r afael â'r heriau i weithredu dros yr hinsawdd

Bydd digon o amser hefyd ar gyfer sesiwn holi ac ateb!

Bydd y sesiwn yn cael ei chyflwyno yn Saesneg ond bydd aelod o staff sy'n siarad Cymraeg yn y sesiwn felly bydd croeso mawr i'r mynychwyr ofyn cwestiynau, defnyddio'r blwch sgwrsio a thrafod pethau yn y Gymraeg!
