The cross-party Health and Social Care Committee in the Senedd has launched an inquiry into respite services for unpaid carers. Carers Wales, the national campaigning charity for unpaid carers, will be responding to the inquiry and we would like to hear from carers about their experiences and suggestions to shape our response.
We'll be discussing the key areas the inquiry is focusing on
- The barriers facing carers when seeking to access respite
- The current availability of respite services across Wales
- Whether the demand for support services is properly understood
- The actions required to improve the delivery of carers rights (including Carers Assessments and support plans)
The last time the Senedd conducted an inquiry into issues facing unpaid carers was in 2019, so this is an important opportunity to be part of cross-party work to scrutinise the Welsh Government and place improving support for carers high on the political agenda.
The focus group will be conducted online.
