Senior Leadership Development: Strategies to Motivate your Staff
Tue 28 March 2017, 09:30 – 15:30 BST
When staff are asked what de-motivates them foremost among their responses will be: lack of clarity about where the school is going; confusion about their individual role and responsibility; lack of recognition of their efforts; poor communication; increased interference and accountability in their classroom. Ask similar questions of the leadership of many schools and the answers will be very different.
This course will examine proven, practical strategies to encourage all staff to contribute positively towards a common vision. It will give guidance on establishing agreed working practices, effective communication, developing a positive culture of accountability and evidence gathering.
It will also outline strategies for identifying and tackling un-cooperative or under- performing staff. The inability of many principals to confront poor practice and to take the tough decisions associated with it, is the cause most often found during inspections for labeling school leadership as ‘weak’.
This course is suitable for primary and post-primary senior leaders and principals.
