About this event
CPRE Shropshire's Sense of Place is a series of artist workshops, talks, and collaboration between CPRE and local artists as well as an exhibition.
About Sense of Place
The venue for Sense of Place is the Gateway Gallery, Shrewsbury. The exhibition at the Gateway Gallery is free and open for viewing throughout October and will include photographs taken by Shropshire residents of their favourite parts of the county. Images were submitted to the Sense of Place photograhic awards over the summer of 2025.
About the organiser: CPRE Shropshire
CPRE Shropshire, is the county branch of the national charity, CPRE, the countryside charity.
We are an independent charity supported by the resources and guidance of CPRE's national office in London.
Our aim is to promote the beauty, tranquillity and diversity of Shropshire's landscape by encouraging environmentally sustainable use of land and other resources in the county's towns and countryside.
We campaign for our beautiful landscape and work to protect, promote and enhance our towns and countryside.
This is the second photography awards we have run in recent years with "My Shropshire" taking place in 2019.
CPRE Shropshire needs volunteers! Contact us if you think you can help us on admin@cpreshropshire.org.uk
The Workshop
Together we will journey through blind, bilateral and sense-based drawing activities.
We will recall a significant or favourite place, through solo and group activities and mark out memories of air, sound, scent, and the walked form of the land.
Materials are supplied and will include paper, chalk and chalk pastels, charcoal, paint and plant materials.
