FILM MUSIC MASTERCLASS
We're delighted to welcome composer, arranger, orchestrator and conductor Geoff Alexander whose many screen credits include Lady In The Van, Everest, Notting Hill and Brassed Off. Delegates get the chance to hear about Geoff's career and his methodology to creating music for film in a truely intimate setting.
TOURING - ALIVE & KICKING
The highs and lows of taking a band out on the road. Expect a full and frank account (including costings) from a cross section of industry experts ranging from tour managers to agents, promoters to festivals.
Guests include Andy Inglis (5000 Artist Management; Tour Management) Timm Cleasby (formerly tour manager for Arctic Monkeys, now production manager for Tramlines Festival) and Matt Wanstall (Musicians' Union).
VIRTUAL REALITY: STORYTELLING SURROUNDED BY SOUND
Virtual reality has made massive inroads into the worlds of film and music and is redefining storytelling - but how does surround sound keep pace to create a truly immersive experience? Guests include Marco Perry, talking about capturing binaural sound for use in VR, and Steven Hancock from MelodyVR who has been documenting the live festival experience. Plus an extremely exciting Virtual Reality showcase by VISUALISE.
TECHNOLOGY - BREAKING THE CHAIN DEBATE
Will Blockchain Technology take the music industry to a better place? We are delighted to be welcoming Benji Rogers (Pledge Music) over from the US and Graham Davies (PRS for Music) to lead on the latest developments on this hotly debated topic.
MUSIC VIDEOS - THE LONG & THE SHORT OF IT
Caroline Bottomley (Radar) examines the role and ongoing evolution of short form videos in a session suitable for both musicians and filmmakers.
SYNC OR SCORE CONTEST
A delegate favourite – this year we'll be looking at factual films with a clip provided by Discovery Music Source.
Our panel of industry experts including Ian Neil (Director of Music for Film and TV, Sony), Kirsteen McLean (Discovery) will critique submissions.
PLUGGING AND PITCHING - THE P's & Q's of PR
As an artist or band how can you best publicise your music? Through this series of expert guests from PR companies, music journalists as well as from bands that have done it all themselves without industry assistance, this panel will act as a practical guide on how to best create a publicity campaign and get your music out there, heard and talked about.
Panel moderated by John Robb (Louder Than War) and featuring Annette Lee (4AD Head of Press) & MJ (Hookworms).
