Event description

Description

Adoption UK Scotland are delighted to welcome Sensory Attachment Intervention Training to Scotland.

We have been able to bring you this training at a subsidised cost through our TESSA Scotland funding and to St Andrew's Children's Society hosting the event.

Overview of Training

In order to care for others, it is important we are able to care for ourselves. Different sensory experiences have different meanings and associations for different people. Therefore, the way we regulate our nervous systems, particularly at times of stress, varies from person to person. Our preferences are often seen in our daily self-care, work and leisure routines, the way we manage stress and, our emotions. Some people ‘need’ to go out for a bike ride, run or go to the gym, others a warm bubble bath with scented oils. Throughout the day we all use built in, often subconscious, strategies or techniques to help manage this and our interactions with others, particularly our children. This practical workshop is designed to teach parents and carers about the regulating qualities of different sensory input and intake. We explore our ‘sensory patterns’ and experiences, consider which are up and down regulating for us as individuals and, whether we have a tendency to actively seek out or avoid different sensory experiences.
