About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

This training will be delivered in partnership with Norfolk Steps

• To develop an understanding of the eight sensory systems and how these typically develop through infancy and early childhood

• To understand that the impact of early trauma can be felt in a child’s sensory systems and how this might impact their presentation in school

• How to support children to feel regulated and improve focus in a busy learning environment

Delegates attending this session will:

• Be presented with the underpinning theories of sensory systems and begin to learn how these develop, and how they integrate

• Relate this theory to ourselves, and our own sensory strengths and difficulties, and begin to explore how we self-regulate as adults

• Start to recognise unseen barriers to learning and when children are in need of sensory input to maintain their regulation

• Develop a range of low-cost, low-resource strategies and activities that can be used to support children when they are in need of regulation

• This will be a practical and active session; please wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement

Please note

This training session from Norfolk Virtual School is for Norfolk based professionals working to support our children and young people. Any bookings made by colleagues outside Norfolk where not supporting our cohorts will be contacted and cancelled where appropriate.
