Why are these sessions being run?

At Camborne Library we are always seeking ways to provide meaningful activities for the whole of the community. Our aim is to bring stories alive and allow those members of our community who need additional sensory input to experience the magic of stories.

What are sensory stories?

Sensory stories pair spoken word with sensory stimuli and as a result, stories come alive for learners with complex communication needs.
It provides the opportunity to take part in the story telling experience, developing listening and responding skills.

Who are they for?

These stories are for learners with complex communication needs. We do our best to provide a range of sensory stimuli for each story, although there may be instances where they may not be suitable for everyone. Please tell staff how we can best support your child.

What are the expectations of myself and my child?

We ask that parents/carers: 
•	Remain present throughout the session.
•	Share your child’s needs, preferences and aversions, and communication style with staff.
•	Support your child to engage with the materials. 
•	Provide us with feedback so we can improve.
