CYNHADLEDD UNDYDD YW HON SY'N CAEL EI CHYNNAL DDAU DDIWRNOD AR ÔL EI GILYDD

Mae Llywodraeth Cymru a'r Brilliant Club wrth eu bodd yn eich gwahodd i Gynhadledd Genedlaethol Seren. Bydd y gynhadledd yn cynnig dosbarthiadau meistr academaidd gwych a gwybodaeth, cyngor a chanllawiau arbenigol i helpu disgyblion chweched dosbarth disgleiriaf Cymru i gyflawni eu potensial academaidd a chael mynd i brifysgolion gorau'r DU. Bydd yn gyfle i athrawon ddod i gysylltiad â phrifysgolion arweiniol a threfnu i'w disgyblion disgleiriaf fynd i weithdai er mwyn eu helpu i fynd i'r prifysgolion hyn.

I FYFYRWYR
Mae hwn yn gyfle i ehangu eu dealltwriaeth o le eu pwnc o fewn disgyblaeth academaidd. Caiff myfyrwyr gyfle i gymryd rhan mewn dosbarthiadau meistr a ddarperir gan brifysgolion ac academyddion o bob rhan o'r DU mewn pynciau amrywiol, a fydd yn helpu i lywio ac ysbrydoli'r dysgwyr wrth ddewis prifysgol.

Yn aml, mae'r prifysgolion mwyaf dewisol yn ei gwneud yn ofynnol i fyfyrwyr ddangos i ba raddau y maent wedi ymchwilio i'w pwnc y tu hwnt i ffiniau'r cwricwlwm Safon Uwch. Drwy gymryd rhan mewn sesiynau a arweinir gan academyddion o ddisgyblaethau cysylltiedig, bydd myfyrwyr yn gallu dangos gwybodaeth ehangach am gyd-destun y maes gradd maent yn ymddiddori ynddo. Ymhlith y sesiynau sydd wedi'u trefnu mae:

• Peirianneg, Mathemateg a Chyfrifiadura
• Y dyniaethau
• Iaith, Llenyddiaeth a Diwylliant
• Gwyddorau Cymdeithasol

Ochr yn ochr â'r dosbarthiadau meistr, bydd y myfyrwyr yn cymryd rhan mewn sesiynau gwybodaeth, cyngor a chyfarwyddyd a gynhelir gan rai o brifysgolion arweiniol y DU a sefydliadau sy'n trefnu mynediad i'r prifysgolion. Byddant yn ceisio ateb unrhyw gwestiynau am y prifysgolion a helpu'r myfyrwyr i greu cais llwyddiannus. Ymhlith y sesiynau sydd wedi'u trefnu mae:

• Sgiliau astudio effeithiol
• Profion derbyn myfyrwyr
• Addasu i fywyd prifysgol

I ATHRAWON A CYD-DREFNWYR EICH CANOLFAN
Caiff athrawon a cyd-drefnwyr eich canolfan gyfle i gymryd rhan mewn sesiynau a fydd yn rhoi gwybodaeth iddynt am fynediad i brifysgolion. Byddant yn gallu pasio'r wybodaeth hon ymlaen yn eu hysgolion. Cânt gyfle hefyd i gwrdd â chynrychiolwyr rhai o brifysgolion gorau'r DU. Ymhlith y sesiynau sydd wedi'u trefnu mae:

• Trafodaeth panel gyda phrifysgolion
• Ymestyn a herio disgyblion mwy abl a thalentog
• Cefnogi ceisiadau cystadleuol i brifysgolion

Bydd angen i'r myfyrwyr ddod â'u pecynnau cinio eu hunain. Darperir bwyd ar gyfer yr athrawon yn unig.

PWYSIG

THIS IS A ONE DAY CONFERENCE REPEATED OVER TWO DAYS

The Welsh Government and The Brilliant Club are delighted to invite you to the Seren National Conference. The conference will offer outstanding, academic master-classes and expert information, advice and guidance to support Wales’ brightest sixth formers to achieve their academic potential and gain access to leading universities across the UK. Teachers will have access to leading universities and workshops to enable them to support their brightest students to progress on to leading universities.

FOR STUDENTS
This is a chance to broaden their understanding of their subject’s place within an academic discipline. Students will have the opportunity to take part in master classes delivered by universities and academics from across the UK in a variety of subjects, which will help inform and inspire university choices.

The most selective universities often require students to demonstrate how they have engaged with their subject beyond the confines of the A level curriculum. By participating in sessions led by academics from related disciplines, students will be able to demonstrate a broader knowledge about the context of their specific degree interest. Confirmed sessions include:

• Medical Sciences
• Natural Sciences
• Engineering, Maths and Computing
• Humanities
• Language, Literature and Culture
• Social Sciences

Alongside the masterclasses, students will take part in information, advice and guidance sessions run by some of the UK's leading universities and university access organisations to answer any questions they have about university and to set them up to succeed in their application. Confirmed sessions include:

• Finance
• Effective Study Skills
• Admissions Tests
• Adjusting to University Life

FOR TEACHERS AND HUB CO-ORDINATORS
Teachers and Hub Co-ordinators will have the opportunity to take part in sessions that will set them up to be champions of university access in their schools. They will also have the chance to meet with representatives of some of the UK's leading universities. Confirmed sessions include:

• Research and Advancing Access
• Panel Discussion with Universities
• Stretching and Challenging MAT Pupils
• Supporting Competitive University Applications

TRAVEL
A budget for travel has been made available by the Welsh Government. To find out more, contact your Seren Hub Coordinators.

FOOD
Students to bring their own packed lunches. Food will be provided for teachers only.

ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is available for students and teachers at Cefn Lea Park Conference Centre upon request. There will be no cost for the students or teachers to use this option but this will be provided on a first come, first served basis. PLEASE NOTE
This one day conference will be repeated on both Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March so that all schools have the option of sending their sixth formers and members of staff on the day that is most convenient. Attendees should select one of the two days.
