Sergio's 'Wake' the Fxck Up Man! will be a vibrant tribute to his spirit, his laughter, and his deep love for music, solidarity, and community.
We are creating a space inspired by his greatest passions, where live music, spoken word, great food, and good company can flourish just as they did throughout his life.
We are honored to welcome the incredible Grupo Luma for a Latin American music performance. We’ll also have an open mic session for anyone who wishes to share a story, a song, or a poem in honor of Sergio.

A testament to the resilience of the human spirit, Sergio was one of the Chilean refugees welcomed to Sheffield, and he played an integral role in building a new life and community here.
His powerful story was the subject of the award-winning documentary 'Un Condor' by Yiannis Kolozis and was featured in 'Chileans of the North,' a film by Chris Paul, which chronicled the lives of Chileans who fled their homeland for the UK.
Sergio first became involved in the city’s vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene while working at places such as the 'La Traverno' and 'Flying Pizza', before going on to run two of Sheffield’s most iconic venues – 'Sergio's La Bamba' and later 'El Paso' at the bottom of The Moor. His warmth, humour and music made him the heart and soul of every room he entered. In his honor, authentic food will be provided by El Paso.
