Event Details

Service Design Thinks Leeds is delighted to present a double bill of influential service design practitioners...

  • Sarah Drummond of Glasgow-based Snook, is constantly pushing at the boundaries of what designers and design can do. She'll share insights on where service designers work well, where they fail, and where design can add value in the public sector.
  • Clive Grinyer founded product design consultancy tangerine with Jonathan Ive, and was a Director at the Design Council. He'll draw on his current work at Cisco, where he helps businesses and the public sector to shape customer experiences and increase the successful use of technology.

Service Design Thinks is free and open to everyone. This is a great chance to learn, debate and gather together afterwards at the pub to explore thoughts further.

Venue: Old Broadcasting House, kindly provided by NTI Leeds (@ntileeds)

Doors will open at 6pm, talks from 6:30pm.

Sarah Drummond - Co founder/ Director of design at Snook Ltd

Service Designing in the public sector

Sarah is focused on how design thinking and doing and the service design process, tools and methodology can be used within the public sector to manage projects and teach 'non' designers how to produce better more joined up services, infused with creativity. Since Snook formed in 2009 they have been leading the provision of service design application to projects in Scotland at a National level. Alongside their consultancy work for clients such as Skills Development Scotland, Mission Models Money, NHS Scotland, Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire Council, they are also in the prototyping phase of delivering their own new service, MyPolice (presented by Sarah's co-founder Lauren Currie at our second SD Thinks Leeds back in February 2011).

Clive Grinyer - Director, Customer Experience, Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group

Designing Transformational Experiences - Magic Mirrors to Wisdom Banks

At Cisco's strategic advisory service, Clive develops thought leadership on customer experience, social and technology trends for Cisco's major business and public service clients. Recent projects include StyleMe Virtual Mirror for John Lewis; Customer Experience projects for various financial services and retail brands; Ageing Well projects in Almere, NL and Torfaen, Wales; and Dialogue Cafe, global cultural video installation initiative. Clive is also a Trustee of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and Visiting Professor at Glasgow School of Art. Before that he was Director of Customer Experience and Design for Orange France Telecom, and Director of Design and Innovation at the Design Council.
