Guest Speaker: Richard Lenton, RFCA Yorkshire and the Humber.

Richard works for the Ministry of Defence Yorkshire and the Humber as a Crown Servant in the post of Regional Employer Engagement Director (REED).

Having been first appointed as the Regional Sabre Campaign Director supporting employers who had reservists deployed on operation Peace Keeping. The role developed into the Employer Engagement space developing the Armed Forces Covenant and MoD Employer Recognition Scheme. The position encompasses Service Leavers, Reservists, Veterans, Dependants of Serving Personnel, Cadet Forces Adults and Cadets and the sick injured and wounded.

Richard's Military background was commissioned in June 1990 into the newly formed 8th Battalion the Yorkshire Light Infantry, later re-rolling to the Kings Own Yorkshire Yeomanry (LI) before taking a position with 9th/12th Royal Lancers (P.O.W’s). He returned and Commanded C Squadron KOYY(LI) before under SDR again re-rolled to Royal Corps of Signals with 34 Signals Regiment. Has served in Germany, Cyprus, North America, Canada, Northern Ireland and Bosnia Herzegovina.

After Commanding a Signals Squadron, worked as a G6 Staff Officer in 15(NE) Brigade, Regimental Second in Command Sheffield UOTC, 34 Signals Regiment Second in Command, 15(NE) & 4 Brigade YODA and before retiring from the reserves returned to Leeds University Officer Training Regiment (YOTR) as the Junior Division Commander.

Richard is married to Alison and has 2 sons Alex 34yrs and Miles 29yrs. His interests when not working on their small farm holding include Skiing and is a JSSI(Alpine), Shooting Clay and Field, and a keen Motorcyclist (Fine weather).
