Setting & Maintaining Boundaries with your Teen
Overview
Setting and Maintaining Boundaries with Your Teen: A Two-Part Workshop
Boundaries with teenagers can feel like an impossible balancing act—too strict and they rebel, too loose and chaos reigns. But what if we've been thinking about boundaries in the wrong way all along?
Join us for this two-part online workshop where we'll explore the crucial differences between rules, boundaries, and threats—and why understanding these distinctions changes everything. We'll look at why traditional rule-based approaches often backfire with teens, and how to let go of control without losing your authority or influence.
We'll examine the importance of practising what you preach—because teenagers have finely tuned hypocrisy detectors and will call out inconsistency every time. We'll also unpack what respect really means in the parent-teen relationship, moving beyond the idea that respect means obedience.
Finally, we'll explore the trap of unrealistic expectations and how they sabotage our boundary-setting efforts, leaving both parents and teens feeling frustrated and misunderstood.
Whether your boundaries feel constantly tested, you're struggling with pushback, or you're simply unsure where the line should be, this workshop will help you create boundaries that actually work.
