Setting up an Etsy shop - Masterclass
Event Information
About this Event
- Have you made beautiful things that you’d like to sell?
- Are you a creative but struggle with technology?
- Have you ever wanted to set up a shop online, but you don’t know how?
This informal online workshop session is ideal for people who are new to selling online.
By the end of it you will have opened your first shop using the Etsy platform. This is “a global online marketplace, where people come together to make, sell, buy and collect unique items,” and is perfect for independent creators.
Key aspects of opening a shop, including choosing your shop name, writing descriptions, uploading photos and dreaming up tags will all be covered in the session. We will take the time to share each other's Etsy shops and celebrate with each other as they all go live!
There will be plenty of time to share tips and suggestions from both myself and other participants. We won't specifically be covering feedback on products, photography or pricing, but these topics may be touched upon.
In advance of the session you will receive an email with a link to the online event where you will find further details including a list of information to gather.
This will help get you thinking about your shop and give you more time during the workshop to list more of your items. You will need to have a variety of digital photographs of each item you want to sell.
Familiarising yourself with Etsy shops will also help you decide what you want to charge for your items and how they might best be described.
FAQs
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Feel free to get in touch with me - Pommy at pom1060@gmail.com
I'm worried I might not have enough technical expertise...
The session is designed with this in mind. As long as you can navigate the internet and know where your photographs are kept on your computer, you will have no trouble following the workshop. If you are at all unsure, please just email me and I can advise if the session will be suitable for you.
How many people will be taking part?
The session will be for a maximum of five people, in order to give everyone a good chance to set up a shop and start selling!
Is my registration/ticket transferable?
If you find that you cannot attend, then you are welcome to pass your place on to a friend who may find it useful. Please let the organiser know if you need to do this.
How will the event be hosted?
The event will be hosted on Zoom, so you will need a good internet connection and a computer with a camera and microphone to be able to access the session. You'll need to download Zoom in advance, and you should have a basic knowledge of how to use Zoom (ie know how to turn your camera and microphone on and share your screen).
What is the refund policy?
Refunds will be offered if the event has to be cancelled - and of course in this instance I will give as much notice as possible and offer alternative dates if appropriate. If for any reason you find you are unable to make it then please get in touch and a refund can be offered up to 3 days before the workshop. After this date I will only offer a refund if I am able to fill your space.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Just let me know when you log on!
