This workshop aims to help delegates successfully make the journey from being trained in how to conduct professional therapy sessions to running a growing private practice. James Rye has-been running a successful private practice since 1997 and was formerly chair of the BACP Private Practice Division.
The training will be very practical and will include issues such as:
marketing - advice on how to get a website up and running in 30 minutes without technical computing knowledge, as well as marketing outlets to avoid
finance and accounting - discussion on how to set your fees and what you can legitimately claim against tax, and how to accept card payments easily
insurance - advice on what to do when your insurer will no longer give you contents insurance if you are using your home for business purposes
personal data storage - more secure alternatives to the locked filing cabinet
business issues - how to maximise follow-through from each contact, and a consideration of the advantages of different business structures, registration with the information commission
As counselling in the twenty-first century changes, an increasing number of therapists are using technology to write and store notes, and to communicate with clients - to arrange appointments, or to conduct them. James Rye acknowledges this trend, and while not being unaware of potential problems, will address practical issues around the use of technology and mention several services, websites, and apps he has found helpful in his business.
James Rye's latest book on running a successful counselling practice is published by Karnac and can be ordered HERE. Copies will be available for purchase on the day.
