Settle: The Film and Q&A (In Person)
Overview
This event is part of the Yorkshire Festival of Story.
What happens when the time you have left together feels too short, and too full?
Settle is a tender, deeply personal short film set in the town that shares its name, and explores love, mortality, and the different ways we face the end of life.
When Alex learns her father’s illness is terminal, she returns home hoping he will pause, reflect, and spend his last months together with her. But her dad, a detective with an unshakable sense of duty, refuses to slow down and is consumed by a missing persons case in the community. Determined to bridge the gap, Alex joins the search, hoping that solving the case will give them the time they both need.
Drawn from the filmmaker’s own experience, Settle captures the quiet tensions, unspoken love, and complex choices that come when life’s clock is running down. This screening offers not just a story, but a space to reflect on family, resilience, and the courage to see the world through someone else’s eyes.
