About this event

Arts • Craft

Under the expert guidance of Rob Jones of Romor Designs, make a patchwork tote bag.

Rob will start by showing you his beautiful collection of vintage Japanese fabrics, including pieces of real Boro from Japan, as he talks about the history and practice of Japanese Boro.

You will be given a vintage patch kit to sew your own vintage patch tote bag using the materials provided under Rob's supervision.

Sashiko templates will be available if you wish to stitch on top of your patches.

The kit includes:

  • 6 Patches of vintage Japanese cotton or linen fabric, typically Shibori, Katazome, Kasuri, Striped, Checked and Plain
  • 20m skein Sashiko thread in a colour of your choice
  • Sashiko needle
  • White cotton tote bag to stitch onto and take home with you

Suitable for 12+ only (all children must be supervised by an adult).

On Saturday 18 October, Muswell Hill Creatives will be bringing people together to get creative at Make and Mend Festival. Guaranteed to be a feast of creativity with a strong focus on sustainability, take part in a workshop, learn about mending and repairs, shop from local makers and enjoy tasty food and drink. Admission to the Festival is free so be sure to arrive early if you're booking a workshop to take a look around and enjoy all that's on offer. Doors open to the Festival at 1pm and close at 5.30pm so arrive early, grab something to eat and browse all the great activities taking place.
