Keen to improve your sewing skills? Our project-based workshops are carefully curated to teach you new techniques in practical, bite-sized chunks.
In this workshop, you will sew a stylish and practical reversible bucket hat.
Our friendly and enthusiastic team of talented sewists will guide you through every step of the project. The finished item is yours to take home so you can show off your newfound skills.
During this workshop you will learn:
- how to set up the sewing machine (refresher*)
- different types of fabric and how to choose the right one for your project
- how to cut your material
- how to sew and finish seams neatly
- how to join the pieces together so that your hat is fully reversible.
*This workshop is not designed for absolute beginners - you should already have attended one of our 'Introduction' workshops or know the basics of operating a sewing machine (even if it was a long time ago!)
The small class size allows plenty of time for questions and 1 to 1 guidance as necessary.
WHAT TO BRING
All equipment and materials provided. We have a wide selection of appropriate fabric remnants to choose from, but you are of course welcome to bring your own fabric if you have a particular colour scheme in mind or want to upcycle an existing garment.
You will be learning on our sewing machines. If you have a sewing machine at home but lack confidence in using it, please feel free to bring in the user guide or a photo so that our team can point out any significant differences.
