What you can expect from your MAKING PATTERNS FIT MASTERCLASS

You are booking a Sew with Nelly Bea MASTERCLASS which focusses on the skills you will need to make a commercial pattern match your body shape. Your master class will be held on Saturday 9th May from 10.00-12.30.

Let’s face it, ALL of our bodies are different, making the fitting of the garments we make a CHALLENGE! It’s so soul destroying to spend lots of money on fabric and lots of time making something to find that we are not happy with the fit! During our time together we will be taking a commercial and working towards achieving a PERFECT fit

What you will learn:

• How & where to measure your body
• Measuring you pattern
• Reading your pattern
• Key alterations

How the day will work:

During the Masterclass we will be working with a darted bodice, adapting it to fit our body shape and making a toile to 'prove' our adapted patterns. We will be using a commercial pattern to enable you to understand how you can go on to make similar adjustments to the patterns you may choose to use in future projects.

10.00 – 10.30 INTRODUCTION: Masterclass in measuring our bodies, our patterns and adapting our pattern

10.30 – 12.00 PUTTING THINGS INTO PRACTICE: Adapting and creating a pattern which more closely matches our body shapes. Creating a toile to test the pattern.

12 -12.30 CRIT: Time to test the fit! Fitting and fine tuning the toile.

Materials & Equipement: What will be provided and what you will need to bring:

You will be provided with the pattern (which will be yours to keep) and fabric for your toile. I will also provide you any other materials, resources and equipment you need to complete the workshop.

You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine for making your toile but if you would like to borrow one of my machines please let me know.

Additional information:

This is going to be a BUSY workshop! I am not planning a scheduled break but please feel free to bring drinks and snacks to keep you going during the workshop. As you will be trying on your toile please consider wearing a fitted vest style top so that its easy for you to take your measurements and to try your bodice on.
