Event description

Description

Cushion Cover Workshop

Discover how easy it is to make cushion covers with a variety of fastenings - zips, buttons or none at all! Time permitting, you can choose to make all three, or two, or just one. Although the class is based upon using new fabric you will also learn tips for upcycling materials such as curtains and scarves. Suitable for beginners although some machining experience will be useful.

What will I learn?

  • How to create your own template or pattern.

  • How to shorten a zip

  • How to insert a zip into a cushion

  • How to make button holes

  • How to make a cushion cover without fastenings

  • Tips on upcycling.

What do I need to bring?

All equipment and materials are provided, except for cushion pads. You won't need one on the day but if you wish to bring one we will be making covers to a standard 40cm/16" size. If you prefer to use your own fabric then each cover takes about 50cm of fabric in either 120cm or 150cm width.

You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine if you like (if you don't know how to use it I can show you!) Please notify me beforehand.

I've never sewn before - is this class suitable for me?

Although some basic machining experience will be useful, this class is geared towards beginners and full tuition will be given.

Cancellations and refunds

Classes can be cancelled up to 7 days beforehand and fees refunded less a 25% administration fee.
